MacBook Air Display issue

2017 MBA, I don't know if I have Apple Care or not. I will check tonight.

Mojave. It worked flawless for about 2 years. now this. I can SSH in and shutdown/reboot, so the Linux part is working. I think it is a bad LCD cable or GPU (although these have integrated GPUs). It worked fine before we lost power, not sure if that was the issue. It shows the menu bar, 100% battery and WiFi somewhere in the lower 1/4 of the screen but I think it fades after a while since I don't see it in this picture

I did try reset PRAM. Will try SMC reset tonight, I don't think it will help. What I can also try is an external monitor.

Power failure suggests SMC/System restore, unless it's just a coincidence.

EDIT:
Whoops! I should have read more carefully--yeah, symptoms sound more like hardware. Can't hurt to do SMC/restore, though....

Bad GPU or logic board, both of which merit logic board replacement.

Expensive if you don't have AppleCare.

I just found the email with AppleCare + valid until Nov 2021 so I am covered.

Can call 800-SOS-Apple and request a mail-in repair. (Back up your boot drive!)

Might also ask if you can send it in with the SSD removed, the 2017 Air still has a removable SSD. I had a friend bring an Air to an Apple store for repair and they let him remove the SSD before taking it in.
