Mac,

My older brother has one those in an external USB 3.1 Gen 2 box. Rock solid. I have the 1TB version of it in a different USB 3.1 Gen 2 box. Rock solid.

The best value in the high-end NVMe segment still comes down to a competition between the Phison E12 and Silicon Motion SM2262EN controllers, each featured in SSDs sold by many brands. At the moment, Microcenter's Inland Premium brand is one of the most affordable options on the Phison side, and the ADATA SX8200 Pro and HP EX950 are still the best options on the Silicon Motion side. Some of the cheapest options here only come with a 3 year warranty instead of 5 years, and the Phison E12 drives tend to have slightly lower real-world performance than the SM2262EN drives. We recommend paying a few dollars extra for the longer warranty and higher performance.

Using the 1TB Inland Professional as Mojave boot in cMP 5,1.
Still only $90 @ MC
Also "rock solid" & runs cool on the Inateck PCIe card. Note, not doing any heavy
duty video, etc. & not a gamer.

I want to put it in an external case and use it with my Mini. I need to off load a bunch of documents, etc.

Edit: Saw that it was on sale for what appears to be a really good price. Just need to find a good case for it.

Used the term documents, but it will include photo library as well.

My 1T Extreme Pro SSD arived today.

I'm waiting for my Envoy Express to ship.

I'm thinking an Adata 2T m.2.

The Envoy Express will limit the m.2's speed, but it'll be moved to a T3 case, when I find one I like.
