Is it the speakers?

Anything else?

EDIT: LiDAR camera / sensor too.

The new Air has the new touchID, which I think is better than FaceID post COVID.

That would depend on how you use your iPad? Ours never leave the house, except for trips.

Might be an issue for schools... except I doubt schools would buy Airs.

I did see stereo speakers in landscape mode, so nice. But RAM is right on the 120 mhz screen. Still the best feature of my wifes iPP. still find it off that its not in the Air. But gotta save something for the pro.

I was all over one at $500 for my youngest who uses it all day for school and play... $600 is prob out. Id still consider a 2018 iPP over it.

Seems like the new iPad Air is really an iPP 2018 Lite - slightly cheaper screen, fewer speakers. Faster CPU, though, and the touchID instead of FaceID.

Hopefully, the next Pro will have the touchID button as well. Not sure if the phone button is large enough to accommodate the touchID. Maybe that's why Apple is reportedly changing the case design for the 12.

I've been thinking, it makes sense for Apple to simplify down to:

1)iPad Mini - for commercial vendors (primary market). Not really a consumer item anymore.

2) iPad - lower end, 10".

3) iPad Air - 11"

4) Pro - 13" plus AR stuff.

(Where LIDAR cameras need to be is unclear to me.)

It'll be interesting to see how well the new Touch ID button works.

I prefer Touch ID and it's handy when one is masked up.

I saw one rumor about Apple tweaking Face ID so that it might read masked faces more easily, but it was just the one rumor.
