I'm thinking of some sort of isolated solution using a pipe to deliver candy to the little beggars at the door.

I saw a solution of handing out candy from a second floor window. I'm thinking about something like a rain gutter downspout.

I’m gonna load up my blunderbuss with M&Ms and let’m have it as soon as they step into my yard!

Halloween is cancelled this year in my household. But I will be looking out the window noting which parents in the neighborhood are risking their children's and household's health for a piece of candy so I can silently judge them.

I have two packages of Milky Way and two packages of Kit Kat bars in my freezer.

I'll get another two of each tomorrow.

Hint: they're for me.

No idea, waiting to see what the Health Department guidance is. We won't be greeting trick or treaters either way and I doubt we will take our daughter out. Don't think leaving a bowl out is a good idea. Nor is a doorbell. Maybe we will spread the candy out on a folding table and they can come up and grab a piece without touching the rest. Then burn the table when it is done.

We live two miles from the paved road - have never had trick or treaters in 20+ years - especially since the downtown businesses have trick or treating over 4 easy blocks with sidewalks!

Our neighborhood is thinking of having one street (2 blocks long) out of the 4 streets in our neighborhood designated for a parade of sorts. Kids will dress up and parade down the street, as socially-distanced people look on. Each family that wants to be a part of it is asked to bring at least one bag of candy. At the end of the street, each kid will be given a previously prepared bag full of candy.

We bought enough candy for the little kids next door and the larger group at the end of the road. They come before it gets dark. When they're done I'm turning off the sidewalk lights and house lights and we won't answer the door. I'm going to check with both families and see if they're actually taking their kids out. If not, I have another bag of candy to eat!

Frozen fun-size candy bars (bites) are a treasure in this world.

I’m turning off all the lights so no one comes to the door and then hunkering down in the basement. Just like every other year.

We haven't been tricked or treated here in over 20 years.... super-duper ToT areas are about 8/9 blocks from here, so no self-respecting kid would come here.
IOW, no prep needed.

"My community says no trick or treating this year"

How about "No trick or treating this year, no matter what my community says"?

For the first time ever we won't be giving out candy this Halloween. Depending on the weather, we usually get 50-60 kids, even though I'm in a small subdivision at the edge of a very small town. The kids have their folks bus them in and wait for them at our dead end road.

Not much walking for these pampered tykes! Why, in my day... smiley-laughing001
