Can't create a disk image from a CD on new iMac

I have a new 17" G5 iMac with SuperDrive. I want to create a copy of a music CD but, I can't get Disk Utility to create a disk image. I choose File > New > "Disk Image from (name of disc)." except that the option for"Disk Image from (name of disc)." appears greyed out. If I select the hard drive I can choose that option. I have tried it with multiple Cds and nothin'...

To my knowledge, the Disk Utility has never been able to image an audio CD.

If you don't have Toast or another commercial burning app, you're left with using iTunes to rip the tracks as AIFF and burning from iTunes.

I guess that is what I will have to do just that then, bummer one can't do it with Disk Utility.
