I am curious why are you want one as small as possible? If you find one, let me know. For hiking/skiing/snowshoeing, I would like a tiny, light emergency cell phone that I could carry just for calling 911, and although I haven't really looked, I haven't ever noticed a phone being marketed that way.

There is this page (but still too much like expensive heavy phones for my taste)

I have a SE z520a. It's small, but I don't know how big the Nokia 6030 is, so I can't give a comparison. Pretty rugged, too. I have dropped it about 100 times (a few of those were cascades down the stairs that resulted in the battery being flung free) and it is still going strong after almost two years. It has BT, which is great for syncing with your Mac's address book.

The z520a has probably been replaced by another model at this point, though. Looks like the z520i is the latest.

I want a small one since I don't use it much and find a pain to carry it in my pocket. No, I won't carry a belt case for cell phone. I would be happy with a monochrome one line LDC display just to see what number I am calling, I don't need fancy color LCD or calendar, to do, etc. Something like ipod nano (2nd gen) would be perfect.

I remember seeing a pretty small nokia from tracphone a while ago, but I need one that works with t-mobile.

I have the Nokia 1100 from Tracfone and it is small, thin and light. Here are the specs:Basic info:
Size: 4.16 x 1.78 x 0.77 inches
Weight: 3.26 ounces
Included battery: Lithium-ion
Talk time: Up to 3 hours
Standby time: Up to 16 days

It won't work with T-Mobile, but Tracfone has a program where for $5 a month you can keep your phone active and not lose any minutes that you have already added. It is called the Lifeline value plan. I use it for my mom. The Nokia may not be available in your area, because it is an older model and they seem to be phasing it out, but they probably have the Motorola c139, which is about the same size. You might also check at Target or Office Max for the Nokia, they might have some left over. Also Target has all the T-Mobile prepaid phones on display, as well as the Tracfones, so you could see and compare all at the same time. HTH.

I bought my S/O a Sprint cdma Motorola KRZR K1m and it's absolutely beautiful. I'm pretty sure there is a GSM version. Small, great looking, terrific reception and tons of features. It has a great speakerphone sound, loud and clear, and it even has GPS, which my Treo 755 doesn't.

Battery life seems to be the only issue for us, but I imagine most "tiny" phones have to deal with this issue because of their battery size. We keep it plugged in when we're in the car and this seems to be a reasonable way to guarantee excellent usage.

I highly recommend it.

My Nokia is GSM, but the Tracfones have proprietary software embedded in them and you can only use a Tracfone with Tracfone service.

Here are the specs for the 6030 vs the 1100, so they are about the same size.
4.09" x 1.73" x 0.71" (104 x 44 x 18 mm) 6030
4.16 x 1.78 x 0.77 inches 1100

Also, the Motorola v66 is an older, very basic, very small flip phone, about the size of the 6030. Should be pretty cheap used.

well, if it turns out that 6030 is already a small phone, I am disappointed. I wanted something about 2/3 the height of the 6030, same width and 1/2 the thickness. Basically take out the display, just show the incoming/outgoing number where the NOKIA logo is, and make it damn thin.
