Motorola E815 stuff - what to buy?

OK
Just got the phone. Have not even RTFM yet.
But looking at ebay for a bluetooth headset, dongle for the G5, leather case/belt clip, etc - I find there are thousands of choices.

What would MacResource do?

I have the logitech mobile freedom. It works well with the phone. It's a bit larger than most people like, but for me, its just used in the car...but the sound is great and the mic is good. What do you expect for about $30.

I'd like to find a better holster than the motorola one...damned thing is crappy. It's made cheaply...the plastic that holds the phone in place constantly breaks. The leather is okay, but who needs that?

I hear ya -
Ive always had the leather case with the belt clip on my cell phones. Seemed to protect the phone, keep it at arm's length, and didnt add much to the size of the phone.

Will keep researching affordable, quality bluetooth headsets
(anyone have the bluetooth dongle on their mac to exchange data with their phone)?

Thanks
Rain

Who is your carrier?

Verizon restricts the BT and cable function between the phone and your Mac.

I've used the D-Link 120 with a non-BT Mac, and it worked quite well.

Verizon cripples the BT...but you can do a SEEM hack with a USB and motorola cable. The cables go anywhere from $10-$30. I had an old one for my moto 730c...which worked perfectly.

The SEEM hack is done via a windows box with a usb port...plut the motorola cable into the windows box and then the phone. Install drivers. Load the SEEM hacks and switch the wireless BT connections to allow for file transfers...voila! You can move pictures, mp3's, and movies to the cell phone and vice versa. Once the hack is done, it's permanent.

Read up at howardforums.com. Go to verizonwireless and motorola subsection.

Thanks
I did a google search Friday and found a few step by step seem hacks.

They say a standard motorola cable will work but to look for the one that does the USB and power, just in case I make a mistake and hose my phone.. with that particular cable, the phone can be saved.

Appreciate the info!

btw, found a leather case with belt clip at Best Buy on clearance for under $3. ( for the E815 and the 7XX phone.)

sweet on the leather case...mine cost lots more ($30 at the verizon store?).

I do have the powered usb cable...I did kill the cell phone and resurected it via this cable.

Just to be sure though, read everything about the seem hack.

Becareful as there are SEEM hacks which were done incorrectly...they can blast your phone (like it did mine).

The interface on the apps is very touchy...do NOT click anywhere other thant the OFFSETS that you really want to do. Also do NOT load a seem into an unused part of the memory (I loaded 2741 to 47a? by mistake). It doesn't do anything to the function, but is 100% proof that you've hacked the SEEM.

Overall, it was a relatively painless process, just be sure to click the correct OFFSETS. I'd avoid installing someone else's hacks. GL
