Day off! :c)

I took a MENTAL HEALTH DAY!
Boy, did I ever need one. I haven't called in sick in over a year either. With the snow/sleet/freezing rain going on today, I just "couldn't" make it to work today.
Now I'm relieving a little holiday stress by finishing my Christmas shopping online (hopefully), wrapping gifts, etc.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but calling in to work is sooooo delightful!

Ah, shaddap.

Er, I mean, good for you! I'm just jealous.

Best to stay home in the freezing rain, since no one knows how to drive in that stuff.

Good call! I hope you don't get the power outages that are starting to seem likely. ('way down south here, it's changed over to just cold, rainy, dark, and miserable.)

OK, how about slang for taking a day off?

We have Mental Health day.

I've heard "Eye problem -- just can't see going in to work today".

Others?

I have never called in sick to work (more than 17 years professionally). I'm afraid if I do, they might discover they don't really need me ...

Yeah, I told my boss I wasn't coming in today, no explanation, just that I wouldn't be coming in.
I've already made it to a local bar for some Guiness and a sampling of their fantastic food at their free Christmas party buffet, and I plan on going back around 6 tonight for some of their ribs, and more beer....

Hey, if I could make it in, you can too. I even went to the gym at lunch as usual. Lots of cars on the side of the road.

It wasn't so much that I couldn't as that I didn't WANT to!

I took the next two days off. I went into December with 5 vacation days. I don't think I will do that again. It has been a challenge to get them approved because it seems everyone else had the same plan.

I am puppy sitting and trying to finish up the ads for my freelance gig.

Enjoy your day off.

I sit on a man’s back, choking him and making
him carry me, and yet assure myself and others
that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his
lot by all possible means — except by getting off
his back. - Leo Tolstoy, novelist and Philosopher
