This just in- Magsafe plugs are not compatible with Cats

Daughter boyfriend just called- the Apple store guys noted that there was a nice clear feline tooth pattern on the and of the Magsafe plug for his Macbook. And such damage is not in the terms of his Applecare agreement. But they did give him 10% off (probably for entertainment value) of a replacement.grinning smiley

Perhaps he will now put the charger away when it's not in use. I have warned him repeatedly, especially after the cat ate two pairs of iPod earbuds. I think the cat works for Microsoft grinning smileygrinning smileygrinning smileygrinning smiley

Hmmm, small object attached to the end of a "string" = CAT TOY!

Older Powerbook cords are not Labrador safe either. Much to my chagrin last year. smiling smiley

My cats loved the outer coating of the power supplies for powerbooks. Guess it was like gum to them. They haven't bothered my macbook cords. They do however knock the mag safe plug out a lot.

Now the rabbit will chew on anything.

not puppy safe - our 6 month old full-size poodle (rescued from the pound, and good for allergies) - thoroughly enjoyed a PB12 power cord. Good thing it wasn't plugged in!

I have a cat that likes to gnaw on wires & I hoped that tapping into the power cord of my Sawtooth years ago would have stopped him from that habit, but it hasn't. His ass would've been gone a LONG time ago if he wasn't so cool otherwise. He's currently working on an old SCSI cable.

GF from the early 80's had a roommate w/ a couple of cats; one of which chewed through a power cord to an appliance (toaster oven, blender, or something) that was behind their stove...

fried kitty. badly fried.

guessing it's probably better to chew through the business side cord of the MagSafe adapter rather than the wall side cord; though I wonder how big of a discount the Apple Store would offer for wall side kitty bites...

this just in. If it WILL fit in a cat's mouth, it WILL end up in a cat's mouth.

We had a pet rat named Oreo that WAS a great pet.
We would let him out to run around our family room in the evening.
He loved to climb up on my shoulder and fall asleep.
He only had on problem he loved to chew on wires.
One night we couldn't find him.
The next day I check behind the Stereo.
There we was stiff as a log.
He had chewed about 4" of insulation off the power cord and had come in contact with the metal case of the stereo.
No more Oreoconfused smileyconfused smileyconfused smileyconfused smiley

Racer, yes, and if you had seen it being consumed you would have worried. But it all came out all right in the end grinning smiley

A Small Dog small dog is a tiny little toy dog, constructed of space-age polymer that in this case feels oh-so-good to a kitty's teeth. SD includes said dogs in all their shipping orders.

I can say without reservation that my own small dog, a Scottie, enjoys the old-style (G3/G4) power adapters...just the metal/plastic part that goes into the 'Book. She also likes the offbrand chargers. Delicious.

Racer, you frequently crack me up.

Maybe it's the juxtaposition of resignation it the face of feline behavior and arrogance, but that one line is one of the funniest I've seen in a long time. I've been cracking up all day after reading that this morning.

Really, really funny!
