Do grapes ripen after picking?

I picked up a bag of grapes at the supermarket where all the grapes looked plenty fat and ripe, but it turns out that they are far from ripe and they taste VERY bitter.

If I put them in a paper bag with a couple of nectarines are they likely to ripen?

Yes. Back in Fresno we used to call these "raisins"

serious note:
They might get a bit softer.

Pears, plums, nectarines, peaches, bananas and apricots continue to ripen after disconnnected at stem

Paper bag trick will accelerate the ripening.

Apples, grapes , grapefruits, oranges, tangerines, strawberries and watermmellons do not ripen after disconnecting from stem.

I'm not 100% sure on orange and green melons.

To correct billb, strawberries do ripen after picking.
