I have Elements 3, 4 & now 6. 3 won't run on Leopard, but unlike most, I can get 4 to run. I just bought 6.

My problem- Elements 4 will allow me to scan directly into the app using the Twain interface with my Epson scanner. 6 will not. The proper plug ins are installed, I've reloaded the scanner software just in case, but in no case will ver. 6 give me the option to scan directly. I've searched Adobe's web site, they talk about the Twain drivers, etc (all installed) but still no go. Anyone have experience or can let me know what to do next?

I can scan from Print Shop 2, Canvas, Elements 4 and several other apps, but not Elements 6.

In what order did you load the scanner driver and Elements? I have an older Epson, and I know that in order to scan from PSE 3.0, I have to have Elements installed first, before installing the scanner drivers. I could never figure out why, but that's the only way it will work, and it's been like that on three different Macs.

Drivers were originally loaded before Elements, but I reloaded them after Elements. No change. Thanks

I sent a message to a friend who's very knowledgeable about getting Elements to play nice with others, but no answer yet, so she must be out of town. Sorry. You are making me hesitant to upgrade to PSE 6.0, though! Although I don't have Leopard on either of my computers, so I might not have the same problem.

Well, like I said- Elements 4 runs fine for me on Leopard (most seem to have problems with it- don't know). 6 is nice and I'm getting acquainted, but the scanning issue has me stumped.

I assume you are on Intel. The drivers allowing for TWAIN may be classic only, and they will not work in the UB application. They will work in PE4, which runs under Rosetta. That would be my theory

I just got an answer from my friend.

"He probably needs to run in Rosetta to scan. Almost no scanner drivers that I know of are universal. Tell him to try that first. For 90% of the folks who tell me they're having scanning problems, Rosetta is what they need. Get info on the closed PSE icon, then turn on the checkbox for rosetta."

Bingo! Don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore since it is about to get bumped to it's third page- but, running PE6 under Rosetta fully restored the ability to scan from within the app. That was the key. I had that happen on something else before, but forgot about it. But, now that sort of undercuts PE6 to run it under Rosetta. Can't have it both ways with Epson I guess.

Anyone know of a scanner that works on Intel natively?
