Consider: it's twenty below and you're a burglar. You really want to go out in that and try to break into a place with frozen fingers? Might be easier to get a job, until summer at least.

Both Racer and Blooz raise excellent points...

Cold, lazy, cheese-eating surrender monkeys... Explains a lot.

If he had a gun, like in the USA, it's likely that DOZENS would be dead instead of ONE.

If they ALL had guns, it's likely HE is the only one that would be dead...

(your scenario and mine are equally unlikely... but I thought your knee-jerk reaction deserved another one).

Both scenarios are unlikely in Canada, though not equally by any sane estimate.

Except that half of it is British in origin.... and the Frog half helped us beat those Limeys.
Why does everyone forget that?

Shortest book in the world?
List of Italian war heroes.

It's all silly bullfeathers.

From Wikipedia:

"The rate of property crime in the US and Canada are roughly on par. However, historically, the violent crime rate in Canada has been lower than the US and this continues to be the case. For example, in 2000 the United States' rate for robberies was 65% higher, its rate for aggravated assault was more than double and its murder rate was triple. [4]."

Thanks-- I scanned twice but there was no clue in the subject line of the previous thread, and I forgot to read the forum cover to cover like a book this week. It explains why people are only interested in discussing Canada this time around :-)

We loved Frog tanks in the "Hail Mary" as Norman called it, during Desert Storm.

It could be that the function that relates population to crime is not linear. In fact, it's not likely linear. I know that with my kids 2 are way more than twice as violent as 1 (silly example, but you get my drift). kj.

I know I'd be way more than twice as violent with just ONE kid, let alone a kid and a dog.

All the homeless crack addicts that would break into houses and rob people here in the US die of exposure or suicide during the winter in Canada.
