OT: laminate static

I recently replaced the carpet in our basement with a laminate wood floor. Now the wife and I get shocked everytime we touch something. The static is amazing. Is there anything we can do to cut down on it? Aside from shuffling around in our socks of course.

You could add an antistatic coating to the floor or get an antistatic mat for the entrance to the room.

Low humidity can cause / enhance this. If that's your problem, add moisture.

LOL! Thats the first time I've heard my basement described as "low humidity". Although i am forced to agree. And thats a good thing for a basement. However, I don't know which is worse, having all this static around my computer or having a machine that introduces moisture into the air around my computer.
