ATA 33 or ATA 66 socket matter?

Cleaning out my MDD 867 and noticed that the front ATA 66 pair were plugged into the ATA 33 socket on the mother board. The cable was replaced by "authorized Apple repair" some years ago. My "fan replacement" info shows a double plug cable plugged into both sockets. Present single blue plug cable won't reach the ATA 66 socket, but I have lots of new ones with a single blue end. Does it matter which socket?

Ok, the ATA 33 is for the optical drives and the ATA 66 is for the hard drives. Never mind.
