You could always copy-paste the one from bazookaman's post. You can probably find it as a symbol to insert in some program and copy from there. Also, based on [tlt.its.psu.edu], you should be able to hold down Alt, type "247" (with the numeric keypad I think), then let go and a division symbol will appear.

Have you got it yet? I did a Google search and found two things that might help. First, that "Alt 247" apparently is supposed to be "Alt 0247", or this -

"You go into Microsoft Word toolbar at the top and go to
Insert, Symbol and go under the Font "Symbol" and it's
there..."

Neither said which version of Word, but Insert>Symbol also has it on my Office X for Mac.

Are you typing a formula? I would use Word's Equation editor.

What is the application and the context? In Excel and most computer programming, '/' is used for divide. For a Word or other text document you'll need to look up the ASCII code, which I believe that someone may have already provided above. Alt+#### is the format. It's been a while but I believe that the Degree symbol is Alt+0248 or 0246. I used to have a bunch memorized from doing CADkey drawings in College.

I was typing an email to someone and I realized that I could not find a ÷ sign. But Alt-246 works! ÷ But you have to use the numbers on the keypad, not the numbers on the keyboard. Very strange.

I guess I have never had to type a ÷ sign before, because I now realize I don't know how to do it on a Mac, either.

Thanks, everyone.
