I must resist. Focusing on the minis. Need to go cheap right now. But looks like a great deal.

Paul, that is a great deal and I won't talk you out of it because I think you would be very happy with it.

If you can afford it...buy it.

decay;

Hell of it is, I have a total of $53 on my credit card right now...
I did my debt-paying-down last year, and now I'm trying to build savings and investment.
That will go slower if I start spending money.

Papercup;
Don't I know it! I was thinking seriously about ordering the same model YESTERDAY at $1549!

My only dilemma now is whether to order the Adobe Creative Suite "With a Mac" deal for $249 or continue with the version I have (pre-CS), pay off the computer, and buy the Education pack later.

I'd be curious to see what Amazon and other Mac resellers do with the price on the discontinued models. Apple dropped that model to $1399 in the clearance section, Amazon currently lists it for $1699, so I would expect that to change. It's always been pretty close when comparing a refurb from Apple with tax and a new from Amazon without tax and usually with some sort of rebate.

Do it! Do it! Do it! This is what you've been waiting for! Don't screw around until they're gone. Trust me, I did that a couple of days ago with something else, and I'm not happy with myself.

I almost want this over a MBP... Just forwarded this to my 62 year old father who is getting ready to move his one man GD / Marketing company HOME. This would be a great upgrade to to Dual 533 G4 which he bought from me 3+ years ago.

That is exactly what I am waiting for on a mini. The clearance low end mini is $479 in the education store, but with tax, it will be about $512 for me. If Amazon just lowers the price to $499, I am still better off because of the tax. I am hoping they might lower it to $499 and then have a small $25-$50 rebate, but I wish they would hurry up and do it.

I knew this would happen, but I still spent a few minutes curled up tightly in a little ball whimpering in the corner. tongue sticking out smiley

I'm in the same boat as others, in full financial hibernation mode, paying down debt as best I can and not adding anything new if I can help it.

Still, though... banghead smiley

Shouldn't this refurb deal be around for quite some time, that model was just discontinued today, and I would expect refurbs to continue to appear for several months to come. Apple usually has refurbs for the current generation and two previous generations.

Just got off the phone with Apple... (can't order the "with a Mac" Creative Suite online... has to be by phone).

Deal is done!

Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Academic (with a Mac) - Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard
( I decided I can really live without the web tools, flash, and other stuff, since I've never used them anyway...).

I was hoping to stay out of debt and build some savings for another couple months, but I just couldn't pass this deal up... that's a bit more than $400 off what I was thinking was "the right price" YESTERDAY...

Some refurb deals come and go. I have to admit, I even wonder if this is some kind of pricing error.

GGD;

All depends on how much they tightened up the supply line prior to this release...
There may NOT be that many of this model in the bull pen, waiting to come up as refurbs.

Then again, there might be a years supply...
I wasn't gonna chance it :-)

Yeah, whenever I'm on the fence deciding on a refurb, they seem to disappear as soon as I'm ready to pull the trigger. It's frustrating waiting for the next batch of refurbs! cry smiley

One less available. Been waiting for this deal like others. Wife has the 2.4 and could have opted for the $1299 deal. Can't pass this up. Now to sell off the 867MDD and monitors etc.

Don't sell the monitors...
Take the best one and connect it as a second monitor to the iMac :-)

I was thinking of Grabbing CS4 Design Premium when I buy my Refurbished MBP. When I asked apple about getting the CS4 Educational version for $350 deal they said "Only good if purchasing a new mac".

Did they let you buy a copy of CS?

Parting out is a possibility. It has so many extras such as usb2,serial, and firewire cards. I do have the original power supply and extra fans. I will hold on to the Dell 2407 ultra and sell the 20" original Cinema which would add some "style" to a mini. Not the best of times for resale though. Thanks to Paul F and decay for the info.

That's the one I got my sis back on Jan 22. Man, I wish I could have waited. The difference could have gone to CS3 or 4 for her.
