Duplicate PC DVD disc on my Mac?
Posted by: kj4btkljv

I've got a PC formatted mini-DVD 3"/8cm disk that I need to duplicate (exact copy) on my Mac. How can I do it? I normally fire up the Windows box, but was wondering if I could do it on the Mac.

The copy needs to be on the larger, standard size DVD disk, not the mini size.

Thanks!

Jeff

Make a disk image from it with the DU. Burn the disk image onto a regular DVD from the DU.

One caveat: If you've got a slot-loading Mac then don't put a mini-DVD or mini-CD in it.

I would be careful if using a slot-loading drive for the small disc.

When the DVD is showing in Disk Utility, select the top line of the two, which is the optical drive. (selecting the DVD itself does not burn all you need) Then select "new image" at the top. It will create a disk image of absolutely everything that is on the DVD, which is what you want. Then eject the DVD.

Select the disk image you created, and "burn". Insert the appropriate size DVD, name it, hit burn, at a slower rate for best quality. Done. You now should have an exact duplicate of the original.

Be sure to choose a good brand of DVD media, such as Verbatim, for one. The result will play on more players due to the burn quality.

Remember how when you were little
you could just rip off your diaper and
just run around naked and everyone
thought it was so cute and funny?

Anyway, I need bail money.

It's actually just data, not movie content. Didn't clarify that in the original post.

I tried the Disk Utility route, and after a successful burn, and verify, I insert the DVD back into the same computer, and it immediately spits it right back out...

Didn't try to see if it worked on another computer or not, ran out of time at work this afternoon.

Thoughts?
