Size of Firefox screen

Is there a way to customize the size of the firefox window so that each time it opens, I don't have to resize? Now, when it opens it fills the screen and I have to grab the lower corner to make the window a little smaller.

Try this - close all Firefox windows, open a new window, resize to the size you want, then close the window. New windows should open to that new size.

I've been annoyed with this as well. I just tried wolfcry's suggestion.... no dice. STILL full screen.

No surprise--it's a ported Windows application.

No. It's not.

If you follow the story back, you'll see that it's based upon the same Netscape/Gecko code that ran under OS 9. Gecko was designed from the start as a FOSS cross-platform engine.

Hmmm. Mine works fine, because I just tried it to make sure I wasn't talking out of my hat. It wasn't full screen in the first place, but I resized it to a smaller size, quit FF, and the screen remained the smaller size when it reopened. I'm using FF 3.x on OS 10.4. I suggest the new user idea to see if it makes a difference.

On my17" MBP, 2.5 GHz, 10.5.7, Firefox stays at whatever size (and place) I set it.

First, disable Java and JavaScript in your pref's. It's possible that a script on your home page is resizing your window.

When you resize the window, quit and relaunch, does the size stick?

If not then find and remove the prefs.js file in "~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/[profile_ID].default/" ...and see if FF's window-sizes stick thereafter.

Note that this file contains pref's for both the app and many plugins so you'll have to re-do your pref's after removing the file.

'Easiest fix might be to export your bookmarks, quit Firefox, remove the "~/Library/Application Support/Firefox" folder and then import the bookmarks back when you relaunch Firefox.

'Course you'd loose any plugins you had.

Thanks DOC..... I didn't do exactly as you suggested, but your post encouraged me to backup by bookmarks..... and then I deleted FoxFire and downloaded again and then restored my bookmarks. My screen now retains it's size when I close and reopen FoxFire. Thanks.
