Awww, cr@p... so much for delivery by the 19th...

... the email I just received is saying that it has shipped, and is now saying delivery by June 23rd. Problem is that I am leaving town that day, and was hoping to get the iPhone before I left ... if I had known they weren't going to be able to make the June 19th date, I wouldn't have ordered. What to do?

Don't trust Apple's delivery date from the email, trust the delivery date that UPS gives you. There's still time for it to get to you by the 19th.

Did you get a UPS tracking number and check the status, a lot of people who appeared to be getting theirs early just got a notice that the shipment is being held for later delivery in Kentucky. Presumably that means Friday.

Yes -- tracking number shows it as being in Hong Kong at the moment, but doesn't give a delivery date estimate. Unless they international overnight it (not bloody likely!), I don't see how I'd get it for the 19th...

Here's tracking from one that originally showed delivery on Thursday, if your tracking is just 1 day behind this, then it seems possible/likely that it will be delivered Friday.

After Hong Kong, it goes to Alaska.

Your package has experienced an exception.

I have an exceptional package, but I don't think that's what Apple is referring to.

Your shipment is currently within the UPS network, however, an unforeseen even has occurred which could result in a change to the Scheduled Delivery date.

Somali pirates got the ship?!

I no longer anticipate a June 19th delivery.

I received a package from UPS on Monday that was not supposed to arrive until Tuesday.

Hopefully you have to sign for the package, or have a place in front of your house where the UPS guy can hide the package. That's what UPS does for me when I'm not at home.

I've found that every package from Apple via FedEx has required a signature. All from UPS seem to require one as well, though they seem a little casual about that compared to FedEx.

I'm back down to AnticiCon 5.

Yes, I am having it sent to work, where it will get the required signature ...

GGD, where did you find that tracking info? That gives at least some hope...

RAMd®d, yes, apparently Somali pirates got your package. (Geez, that sounds dirty! Someone's gonna post the pirate pic for sure...) Hopefully it's just being held like the others in Kentucky. (Yikes, even more dirty!)

From an iPhone order that I placed.

BTW: The Apple Store shipping notice email was sent to me on 6/15/09 11:33 PM. And it said:

Shipment Information

Shipment Date:
Jun 16, 2009

Delivers by:
Jun 22, 2009

All reports that I've seen said to ignore the Delivers by date in the email, and assume the promised June 19th date.

I just purchased a refurb MBP from Apple and had it shipped to my sister's house in NH. It shipped FedEx with a signature required (she's home 3 days a week). The other day I was on the phone with her while she was at work discussing the delivery that was scheduled for the next day when I checked the status. I commented to her - you just signed for the FedEx package! She works in MA. FedEx left the MBP on her front steps without signature, where it sat for 6 hours before she arrived home. Luckily it was still there.

I preordered at AT&T. Mine was shipped to the AT&T Store today for overnight delivery on 6/18. No holdup from UPS. So I guess I 'll have mine on Friday when I walk in there.
