DL'ing iPhone apps - Enter password every time?

Title says it all. Just got my first iPhone and am starting to load apps. Seems like I have to enter my iTunes password almost every time I download an app, even free ones. What's up with that?

Another related question... we have 2 iPhones in the house, sharing the same iTunes account. I'm assuming that each phone will have its own apps and that they won't get shared between phones. Yes?

Thanks! These phones are awesome! Can't believe I didn't get them sooner.

Get the apps on the computer via iTunes--no authentication.

Yes-they can share apps and purchased music.

For music and other stuff, you can make different playlists/albums

iTunes keeps a record of every app you download, paid and free, so it does require your password when you download an app. If you are downloading several at once or the time in between is negligible, you probably won't have to enter it every time.

If the apps are downloaded for the same iTunes account, I think you should be able to use them on both iPhones if each iPhone is synced to that iTunes account.

Congratulations on your phones. Enjoy!

Not true.

If you download an app free or not, on your 'Phone or computer, you'll have to provide your iTunes password.

When you do so, you'll have a window of time that will allow you to download additional apps without entering your password. Wait a bit and the window closes, and you'll have to provide your password again.

If you are signed into iTunes, they are simply "bought" like anything else---and I have never entered my password on my computer while getting apps on my computer---but yes, I do, every time I get apps from the iPhone.

I sync my 'Phone every morning.

To download songs, apps and updates, I have to enter my password.

You have to enter your password in iTunes.

I sync my phone at least everyday, and have hundreds of apps and never enter my itunes password. Unless I get the app directly on the iPhone App store.
