F/U HARD DRIVE--hope or hosed?

many thanx to all responded to my original post: [forums.macresource.com]

switching the problem drive to a different firewire enclosure allowed disk warrior to open, find and rebuild the drive and replace the bad directory folder (right?); after putting the drive back in its former case, all's well.

again, i'm most appreciative for the assistance.

would someone be kind enough to explain to me what kinds of problems would create this situation, especially regarding whatever caused d/w to stall on account of what i guess was a bad root directory on the problem drive?

Try to keep it away from faucets and hoses, or it'll really get F/U'd.

'Could be a bad bridge in the original enclosure. Hardware fails. It's a fact of life.

'Could be that you killed it with bad wall-power or by unplugging the drive from the Mac while it was still mounted or by forcing the FW cable in backwards or any number of other things that are purely speculative with the amount of info that we have.
