Anyone still using Eudora?
Posted by: bangman

I just installed Eudora for an old iMac that is running OS 9.

It seems to work reasonably well. Are people using Eudora in OS X?

Just curious.

Yup...

Does what I need it to do.. and I don't have to convert many years worth of archives to some other format. (Yeah, I know it's pretty easy.. but I'm pretty lazy...)

I used to, a long time ago.

I'm moving away from email programs and using gmail more and more as my "main" mail station.

Eudora here for at least 12 years! I see no reason to change - it does what I need it to do.

Nice testimonials! I've been using Mail in X and just might switch to Eudora. I used to use it a lot back in the day and something about it just seems right.

I've been contemplating moving back to Eudora from Mail. always liked the plain text aspect of Eudora. I didn't mind the sponsored mode, but the last time they updated, they took away the Junk mail filter in sponsored mode and it wasn't good enough to pay for.

I personally don't use it except for testing - and it is definitely a decent e-mail app to say the least... and that said - I know lots and lots still using it for OS 9 and OS X since until recently, whenever a certain newsletter I e-mailed had a glitch in it, used to get tons of e-mails from Eudora users. Eudora is old school straight up - not forgiving of html code typos like Mail and Entourage are.... Needless to say, I test with Eudora each send. smiling smiley

Another vote for Eudora here as well. It's the only e-mail program I've ever used on any of my computers. My GF made the migration to Mail on her iMac and she likes it, but like Paul F. says above, Eudora does what I need it to do, so why change it?

Now if I could only find a use for Fetch, I could use all of my old comfortable programs...

My wife uses Eudora on her G5 at work and home. In Eudora she can hold down the option key when she clicks the send button in order to schedule her mail. Cool feature. Mail doesn't offer this feature as far as I know. If Apple Mail incorportated this feauture I believe she would switch (Well, I know she would since I'm the one who goes to her worksite to configure her computer).

I went to mail when I switched to OSX, then after about two months of headaches, switched back to Eudora.

Like it better than any other program I've tried - esp. Mail.

I still use it, and have for years. Its only downside as far as I can see
is its inability to render html emails, but the Open in Browser menu option
solves that problem.

Searching for stuff is very easy.
