Tonight's Odd Question: Use "Tree" in a sentence!
Posted by: microchip
Date: June 30, 2009 08:10PM
I'm trying to think of some expressions/things you do involving trees, ala:

"Barking up the same old tree"

Anyone else got any ideas? I'm just trying to brainstorm here.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

"Barking up the same old tree"

...is a variation on the original. It's a non-standard version, or a made-up version. I think you were referring to this expression:

"Barking up the wrong tree".

I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree. . . . .
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
by
Ben Jonson

Is this considered highjacking the thread?

Trees

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

-- Joyce Kilmer

A billboard lovely as a tree.
Perhaps, unless the billboards fall,
I'll never see a tree at all.

I've seen a white oak tree full of owls in the middle of the night.
Right in my front yard.
It is extremely 'odd'.
All those eyes are something you never forget.
