New iPhone - broken volume control?

My wife just called and said that her volume buttons don't work anymore. I had her reboot and still no workie. Is there a setting somewhere that would disable those buttons? We got it on release day... would Apple exchange it if it's broken?

If it is less than one year old it is under warranty and they will replace it; you can also buy Apple Care for the phone (worth the $79 for us) which will extend the 1 year to 2 years.

You might want to try some of things listed here:

[klauskjeldsen.dk]

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. It will reset all your settings to its original state and NO harm is done to contacts, calendars, photos or any other data on the phone.

Check eBay for AppleCare. Just snagged one for my iPhone @ $39.!

Well it looks like a bigger problem, the mute switch doesn't work either. Tried to reset it but that didn't help either. Have an appt at the Genius Bar tonight.

Back from the store. Turns out that a small cable came loose and disabled the board for the volume control and mute. All fixed now. Wifey is happy again.
