MBP users - does your USB port remain live when asleep?

I have a:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz

I use a Antec cooler that runs off the USB port, and the fan continues to run when the MBP is put to sleep. Kind of a PITA to have to unplug it every time I sleep the computer, especially if I sleep it and then remember to unplug, which wakes it back up. I'm considering using one of these to power the Antec, turning it off with the power strip when I sleep the computer (as I do with the charger, USB hub, and monitor) but if the USB port behavior is incorrect, I'll take it in for repairs.

Mine stays on too. Never noticed before, but I just now put in a little light I have. I put it to sleep, and the light stays on.

Well, that's 2 to 1. I wonder who's is working incorrectly. Maybe time to start a new thread with a poll?

Mine does if I have something connected to it before I put it to sleep.

The newer models have that feature. It allows, for example, iPod charging without having to leave your computer on.

Mine stays live--good for charging iPhones and iPods.

If I unplug the iPhone it wakes. Goes back to sleep if the lid is shut.

Just guessing, but the behavior might also change depending on if you have the AC Power Adapter connected to the computer or not.

Nah, checked that six ways from Sunday; A/C adapter connected or not; external monitor connected or not; lid open, lid closed; USB port in use or not.

I ordered one of those iPod adapters and we'll see if that works - I had an el cheapo one from Meritline or the like, and it crapped out after a few days use.

Main reason for the post was to see if it was "normal" behavior.

Interesting side note: If I sleep it leaving the A/C adapter "live" unplugging the fan wakes the computer. If I shut the power off to the A/C adapter after sleep but and then I unplug the fan, the computer stays asleep.
