Next step: beat IBM's Revenue and Income!

What's interesting - IBM has 3x the revenue, but 10x the employees.

They have 2.5x the profit on 3x the revenue and they also have 33% more shares outstanding.

So... all in all ---- Every step of Apple growth, including stock price (obviously) comes at a
tremendous advantage relative to IBM. Epsecially in employee productivity.

I add Dell and MSFT in that Wolfie link, and you'll see that MSFT is, indeed, next, and that while
Dell has great sales numbers, they, too, lack in terms of "percentage" of everything when you look
at the bigger picture.

And MSFT has about 220 billion in market cap (guess without looking) but they have TEN TIMES the
outstanding shares. So a $1 affects them with 10x the impact - on market cap, which could be good
and bad. I'm surprised they haven't done a 1 for 10 swap, unless they are quietly trying to buy back
their own at the lower price, slowly.....

Perhaps if they add to the Zune.....

a pedometer
a video camera
a digital FM radio
16GB of SSD
a voice
some personality
AND (one more thing)
they ship it with something you attach to your shoe to stomp on it...

Sales will go up!!

----------edit

btw.... Dell has nearly double Apple's sales, but profits are only 40% of Apple's. In addition, their $58b
in sales is countered by a market cap of $30b -- only 20% of Apple's.

And MSFT? They still have Balmer. That's great - because he likes to focus on Apple, when Apple
doesn't really compete with them on anything except that which they choose to enter against Apple.

Their profit margins are significant - since, how much does it cost to box a DVD or leave it for download?

I don't get your negative reference.......

It's a simple look at finances... and productivity. Stock dropped $2 today, so they are probably
on the back-side again, but - that stock's headed for $200+ and there isn't anything that is going
to boost IBM like the short term psychological boost that will roll Apple along (compared to a 100
year approach for IBM investments).

As for 1989 --- I'd love to go back to 1989! If I knew then, on so many fronts, I'd do it!!!

What's the point of comparing or even talking about "psychological boosts" with regards to IBM and Apple? They're totally different companies in if you want to be broadly inclusive the IT sector.

Yep, you'd have to compare AAPL with a similar business/competitor to figure out if the sky high P/E ratio of AAPL is justified.
