Drum Blues - new printer or new drum?

My Brother 5250DN needs a new drum I think. It doesn't print well on the left side of the paper, even after trying a new toner cartridge, cleaning corona wire, etc.

I found this drum for under $50 but is it a good vendor?

I wonder if it's better to find a deal on a new printer. I do want both Duplexing and Ethernet.

Edit: Clarified title

How many pages have been printed since the drum was last changed? On my Brother HL-1870n they say to change the drum every 20,000 pages. I actually change it every third time that I change toner which has been about 27,000 pages, and print quality does improve a bit with the new drum.

The page count is 18000, well below the 25K listed drum life.

have you shook the toner cartridge? give it a gentle shake to make sure you have toner all over the page

EDIT; sorry, I missed this bit. nevermind

This is what happens when you read a post, then go to do something else and come back to find the page open and type a response, but you forgot the details of the post smiling smiley

Yes I first gave it the shake routine, before the new cartridge. Moving the corona wire back and forth a few time did help a little, but still not acceptable.

personally, my answer was to get a new/cheap printer.

I had this conundrum when the drum on my HL 2070N reached it's life. i opted for a new printer since it was only $10 more than a new drum. actually, the 2070 is still struggling along; i attached it to my son's computer as his print needs are not critical.
