Interesting, but more like a caricature of a Hot Wheels/Transformer car- a Funny Car without all the sponsor decals.

I prefer the new Camaro more, though thie Trans-Am is better looking than the last few years of the Firebird in general.

Now *this* is what I'm talkin' 'bout:

A much cleaner look- Elegant Brute. The T/A's shaker hood scoop would be nice. Or the electric "doors" of the '81's hood scoop would suffice.

I LOL'd at the tail end shot - it looks like the car's wearing a skirt!

Ground effects are a little too boy-racer (ricer) for me but it's OK looking. Camaro's lines are cleaner but this a concept and the Camaro is production. Late '70s T/A is still my fave as it was my first real R/C car as a kid. My brother still has it!

I had a few friends with I think 79 and 80 T/As.

One guy even back then at prices much better than today, always wanted to trade me his T/A for my Escort so he could go out of town on dates on the weekend and save money on gas. I am surprised I am alive today during those swaps. smiling smiley

The HEAT from the engine into the passenger compartment was amazing and scary.

I almost bought a Z28, 79, powder blue. As an aside, I noticed the guy I almost bought it off of is on the sex offenders list back in my hometown. Idiot.

I had those BBS on my 86' Jetta GLI Wolfsburg

TransAm always did have ugly wheels - remember the honeycombs ?

My '70 Firebird had the classic rally wheels

I've never cared for BBS wheels. For awhile, I saw them on ever BMW that passed by.

Honeycomb wheels. I didn't like them a bit, either.

My favorite rims, other than Chevy's older steel Rally Wheels are the 1994-96 Impala SS wheels:

(Excellent replicas of the OEM wheel)

No lightweight, flimsy looking rims. Beefy rims for a beef car. The actual factory item was brushed aluminum which I really, really liked.

But, it looks good. (if you like TAs that is)

At least Pontiac doesn't have to embarass themselves by begging Buick for a real engine for their Trans Am again.

I can't get too excited about a car that looks as if it sits as high as most trucks. Why are all of the domestics doing that now? Is it a psychological thing so people will think they are "safer"? It's just weird to me, this whole looking like you need a high chair to sit in them. It's like this in the new TA, Camaro, Charger, etc. Even the Mustang is like that but to a lesser extent I think.

These modern pony cars always elicit the same reaction with me.

The initial reaction is usually, "That's so awesome! I want one!"

But then I realize that these cars usually don't age well, either mechanically, physically or stylistically. They just bring back my teenage lust for cars with big tires & engines - especially the Trans-Ams with the engine displacement on the scoop. I loved it - 6.2 liters!

Also, in my old age, I prefer comfort to performance. A nice performance sedan will give me the quiet & comfort and most likely more power than I need (which I like!).

Just getting old.

Now put a muffler on that thing and GET OFF MY LAWN!
