On my old (old) Ibook I could burn a disk via apples program. I can't find anything except iDVD. Will this burn stuff I've downloaded off the TV? if I drag it to the program?

Copying data disks(data files)? what do you use native on the computer?

In OS 10.6, look under Finder>File>New Burn Folder

Create a New Burn Folder and drag what you'd like to burn into it. There's a "Burn" button to click

Same as in 10.4 and 10.5. Use a burn folder.

What program did you use? The Disk Utility can be used to burn CDs and DVDs from a disk image.

Maybe. "Downloaded off the tv" doesn't give us much to work from. What kinds of files are they? What codecs were used? Is the purpose to make DVDs that you can play in a set-top DVD player or to preserve the files?

I use Popcorn and Toast on my other macs but I'm not sure my latest TOAST will work on the new mac...8 or 9? Can't remember.

There are so many things I have to find out about this computer. Little is the same as my G4 ! Thanks for bearing with me.

Try Toast.

I had problems with Toast 7 under 10.6.1 where it failed to recognize my burner, but Toast 8 and 10 have worked so far without a hitch. (I never bought Toast 9.)
