PC laptop keeps on falling into a comatose state

No matter what OS I installed, i.e. XP Home, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, or Puppy Linux, the Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-S405 wouldn't wake up from a 'suspend' nor 'hibernate' state. Problem persisted even when I set power mode at 'never sleep'. However, once woke up, except for the sounds (saving that for another post) it worked flawlessly.

P4 1.40GHz
512MB RAM
80Gig HD

Is it the lack of RAM? The HD passed the Ubuntu 9.10 test during the installation process. Anything else I should try? TiA

It could need a new clock battery.

Yes, you could just turn it off and use your Mac, and then you wouldn't know it wasn't working right, so you wouldn't have to figure out how to fix it. smiling smiley

Alpha,
I have been using my MBP since last Nov when Apple replaced it. And I have been using Mac since 1992. This laptop is my guinea pig to experiment and learning various flavors of Linux. Just as I would do with my old G3 and G4 powerbooks. I am sure I am not the only one who is always curious about what other OSes are like besides OSX and Windows.

Oh, yeah, some folks enjoy smoking, drinking, hookers and booze on their spare time; I like to toy around with electronic gears grinning smiley
