Dangmammit, how do I save an unsaveable PDF?

Have a PDF which when I open it, says that any info you enter in the forms will not save, and that you have to print it instead.

How do I get around this? I'm guessing it's some sort of stupid file protection that they've put on the PDF to prevent you from saving or modifying and then saving the PDF.

I want to be able to save the modified version. How do I do this? I seem to recall that I should be able to print as PDF or something to get around it...

If it is indeed password-protected from within Acrobat, you may be out of luck.

On the PC side there are several apps that may be able to circumvent it, though...

Use Apple print command--then choose PDF as your print/save option.

Not as elegant--use Grab (in utilities or applications)--and save the window screen shot.

It's likely that the Print and save as PDF won't work either. They saw you coming and have protected against that too.

There are some programs that will let you remove the password protection available here:

Would a screen shot work for you?

Seems to me I have saved PDF's in iPhoto. Not copy protected ones though. Haven't run across those. Can you open them in Preview? Lot of my desktop pdfs open automatically with Preview.

You could Screenshot by using "shift command 3 and selected area shift command 4."

Do you have "Graphic Converter?" It may do it.

Thanks guys. Sure enough, eeyore appears to be correct, and it won't let you print as a PDF (instead, it says to use Save As instead, and then you just end up with a copy). Preview gives same results as Acrobat Reader (I'm using v7.07 of the latter).

Screenshot isn't going to be especially useful in this case.

Interesting -- I just discovered that apparently Acrobat 6.0 has no problem letting me enter in text and saving it... so I think I'll go that route.

I've run into that same situation...

I'm pretty sure it's an option when the fillable PDF is constructed to allow or deny saving data.

You can try PDFKey Pro, which I found on versiontracker a few days ago.

I was able to use it in free demo mode to unlock a password-protected pdf
file which I needed to edit.

Either 10.2 or 10.3 doesn't have this password feature. I complained about this on the old forums many moons back.
