Y-CRUM error on Xerox 6180n

I bought a xerox phaser 6180n a couple of years ago. Not a lot of color copies--finally bought and put in yellow and magenta replacements (not OEM). I keep getting a Y-CRUM or M-CRUM error and a 093-950 error. Apparently these are because they are not chipped right or OEM. I have taken them out and shakened the cartirdge and then the printer printed the color document. I have looked for info on the chip or any ideas. I know several bought this printer on the list. The easy, expensive solution is to buy OEM cartridges. Any other ideas?

Mine are still on the original toner carts, but if you've had to replace yours without printing a lot of color copies, then make sure you're selecting monochrome in the print dialogue box, or you may be unknowingly using color toner mixed for all your b/w text doc printing.

(ps. wonder if that's related to R. Crumb?)
