There is only one bathroom in our place and it does not have an exhaust fan sad smiley What is the best way deodorize the bathroom's pungent odor? We are expecting overnight guests.

I never understood the burning match thing. They're matches, not magical pixie sticks of happiness.

It is what it is.

Lysol Neutra Air (Fresh Scent) in the automatic dispenser.

We have the sole sash window cracked open, and also use plug-in air fresheners. It's a small duplex, stench travels fast and furious.

agreed...

though it's not the burning of the matches that does it...light 'em, after the sulfur or whatever burns off, blow 'em out....it's the smoke, IMO, that helps...

Exaust fan or window are required by code in our "2nd world country". But, if you take all those 12v "muffin" fans we know you have and make a stack out of cardboard(or upscale 1/4" plywood) you can build a Big-Sucker exaust fan. Just wire in that "wall wart" 12v 1amp piece of junk you don't know what to use it for and hook it to the existing lighting. A flip of the switch and "gas be gone". A few additional details are that you build the unit to fit in a cut-out in the drywall overhead. Get a register without a ...got to go

You could get a can of room deodorizer and leave it on the back of the toilet. Did you know some of that stuff actually works? I'm talking about the spray that actually deodorizes the air and not just a cover up of one unpleasant aroma with a different one. I use stuff called Ozium, but I don't remember where I got it. I bet a lot of people here know the brand names of stuff that's available in grocery stores. I see commercials for several of them, but I've never used any so don't know which really deodorize and which are just cover ups.

Big sign "Please flush during and after as a courtesy to others". Offer nose plugs.

Of, put the fan in the darn window sucking OUT.

Yeah, the matches just half-heartedly mask the original odor with a little bit of sulphur and smoke, but that's it. The flame doesn't take away any of the smell, even though it is possible to light the methane in one's ... emissions. What burns doesn't smell, and what smells doesn't burn.

Uh, it's just natural so don't worry about it. But if you want to mask it do so in your other rooms.

I hate the idea of spraying Lysol or some other chemical around to breathe (or to have the next person breathe), so I rely on matches, if necessary. Sometimes it's a three matcher, sometimes only two. It depends on the meal, I guess.

A flame burns the hydrogen sulfide and any methane present.

When talking "stench" much stronger measures are in order.

Good luck with that.
