Hope this wasn't posted earlier - I did look.

Melding design elements from different Chevy models, the 789 shows the world that you really can’t have enough of a good thing...

Umm, yes you can.

Alternate opinions welcome.

I don't think it was posted here. I got the link for that atrocity from one of my brothers about a month ago. I would rather have a properly done version of the Civette than that.

From the front it reminds me of the Thunderbird redux.

From the back it reminds me of a car that an elderly aunt drove back in the seventies.

Now, up to now my plan went all right
'Til we tried to put it all together one night
And that's when we noticed that something was definitely wrong.

The transmission was a '53
And the motor turned out to be a '73
And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone.

So we drilled it out so that it would fit
And with a little bit of help with an A-daptor kit
We had that engine runnin' just like a song
Now the headlight' was another sight
We had two on the left and one on the right
But when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on.

The back end looked kinda funny too
But we put it together and when we got thru
Well, that's when we noticed that we only had one tail-fin...

I can't completely agree with that. I love the '57 Chevy Belair

Ouch - that was my car! and I'll have you know I drove that for 10 years, crossing the country countless times and even ventured down to Santa Rosalia Mexico. Besides towing the C/Altered coupe it ran in C/modified sport at the drags. The last engine in it when I sold it was a 396 big block with a '65 turbo hydramatic. Speaking of 57 Chevs, I beg to differ with H1N1

Note that my 57 has one of the ideas he used (58 styling) - observe the wheel covers. It was too early to add anything from the 59 Chev - they weren't out yet.

The '57 Chevy was gorgeous.

And I like the '57 Impala a lot, too.

The meld-- not so much.

If some guy builds that and it happy, I say screw the putzes who don't like it. But if a "company" builds that for sale, I say "Really?".

Really?!

The 55, 56 and 57 Chevy's were all nice looking cars. I had a friend that owned a 56 Chevy. But that monster they're selling for $140,000 looks like something out of a Mad Max movie.

I don't think the new Vettes are very good looking. Clean, but kinda blah. Looked at the site. The 59 Chevy's weren't very pretty. Why not a 57 tail. That's iconic.

Have you ever seen these 2003/53 conversions?

Sorry, but I have to comment on the "57 Impala" which I'm sure was just a typo as the Impala was introduced in 58.

This is a subject near and dear to my heart. Growing up in the 50's & 60's I got spoiled looking at cool cars. IMHO, almost all of the new Camaros, T-Bird, etc (except the Mustang) are gross, out of proportion, hogs.

They don't hit the mark at all. The pics of the 53-09 Corvette are more interesting than any of the above mentioned cars.

The drag car pics are awesome! The 60's were a great time for racing. We raced Top Fuel in the 60's and I was lucky enough to come back in the last 10 years and do it again....that whole Wide World of Sports "The Thrill of Victory, the Agony of Defeat" thing.

I'm in the thumbs up for the '57 Chevy club. Always wanted one, but I have too many old timers as it is.

One of my friends bought a '57 Chevy over 30 years ago. We tooled around in that thing for a few years, even using it driving to work in our car pool, then he parked it in the barn so he could do a complete restoration of it. Trouble was, life kept getting in his way. He finally started a frame off restoration last summer with parts he's accumulated over the years. Can't wait until he's finished! So much room in those classics!

And olnacl, that pic of your 'vette towing the racer is still painful for me to look at! cry smiley

EDIT: Whoops! Got off topic a bit, but about that "hybrid" thingie in the OP sucks backside. :-)

We call those Vetterods.. Before this last economic crunch I knew a few folks that either had em or wanted them. Something different for sure.
(models like the ones Rolando posted)

There is HUGE $$$ to be made in the aftermarket parts for Corvette enthusiasts. I have friends who have dropped additional 30-70,000 dollars into their Corvettes on visual and performance modifications.

I guess if ya have the money and the imagination, nothing is impossible.
