Adobe says, "No porn for YOU!"
Posted by: Blankity Blank

On the official Flash blog, Adobe posted a series of screenshots of web pages with broken Flash icons to illustrate all you'd be missing using an iPad without Flash. Among the pages shown, a porn site called "Bang Bros HD". big grin smiley (All porn pixelated)

They have since replaced the screenshot with an apology. Way to keep things classy Adobe. :booty:

They really should have stuck with the 'Apple Is a giant greedy poopy head!' rant.

LOL "the porn card"

Apple's (probably) not gonna give two @#$%& about them publicly launching missives like this, but I'd love for them to fight back with some published advantages of other (non-Quicktime) ways of streaming video online. I think that'd be more than fair.

At least Adobe could have chosen a tasteful porn site.

The Bang Bros?

Shame, SHAME on Adobe.

On the other hand, you can read PDFs on an iPhone, and Adobe has a Photoshop app too--I assume the iPad will do the same. So just a little left out.

You assumed correctly. Listed in the iPad specs, PDFs are supported. That was one of my concerns before deciding to buy when they start to ship. I have a TON of PDFs and wanted to be sure I could read them via iPad.

One comment pointed out that Flash is a bandwith hog and maybe Apple knows that ATT's network would meltdown with banner ads and porn and streaming movies.

Reading the thread the article references:
[theflashblog.com]

And another linked to on that thread:
[blogs.adobe.com]

My conclusion is that Flash doesn't work very well for video on Macs and Linux, and it's Adobe's fault. The second thread claims that its because Flash is supposed to be doing all sorts of other wonderful things, and others haven't given Adobe the tools it needs to optimize Flash. But none of the criticisms about why other programs can solve these problems, but Flash can't, are answered.

Makes me thing Apple is even more right to exclude Flash from its relatively low-powered devices. (Although the argument that Apple should let users decide carries a lot of weight.)

Good luck.

Wait, there's a version of Photoshop for the iPhone?!?!

It's not exactly Photoshop. It's a free little app with a few nifty filters designed to draw people to Photoshop.com.

Yes, it's Adobe's Photoshop.com mobile application. [itunes.apple.com]

It will be interesting to see what an app like this might develop into after the iPad is actually in people's hands, along with apps like Brushes. [itunes.apple.com] I'm thinking of the functionality of something like a Wacom Cintiq display, onto which you can "paint" directly with its accompanying stylus, only iPad 1.0 will actually be the computer instead of just a display/input device, and will use fingers and gestures instead of the stylus.

A stylus solution may not be too far off.
