As mentioned in the previous thread, one of my top live albums is Barber in Berlin. Over 50 years old and still sounds joyous.

Little Feat's "Waiting for Columbus" has always been one of my favorites. Sadly, I've been listening to it all morning since news of Richie Hayward's death.

Stretching the definition of "live" perhaps, but I'm going with it anyway.

A GREAT collection so far. Interesting that LIVE AT THE FILMORE or Faces' COAST TO COAST or Orbison's BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT haven't been mentioned yet.

...and two thumbs up for WAITING FOR COLUMBUS. A sad day to be sure, but what music was left - amazing to this very day.

OMG - forgot about THE LAST WALTZ!

I didn't forget about it, but I went with my initial reaction, the live album I've played the most of any of them.

The Last Waltz and Waiting for Columbus would be on my Top Five list for sure! As would Stop Making Sense!

GREAT thread. I like that I have many of those listed above either on vinyl, cassette, CD, or digital format (or some combination of the above).

WAY TOO MANY to list (but I did it anyway!)

I LOVE live music. As far as I'm concerned, studio versions hardly even count. Kinda start with zappa and more backward alphabetically skipping some that have already been mentioned.

zappa - You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vols 1-6 (that' 12 discs right there), Zappa in New York, Best Band you Never Heard, Make a A Jazz Noise Here

weather report - Live and Unreleased

Tom Petty & Heartbreakers - Live Anthology

Steve Hackett - Live Archive

Steely Dan - Live at the Record Plant (1974) - One of my favs, but still only in bootleg form. What a f'ing band!!! Absolutely blows away the muzakish live release they did years later.

Santana - Moonflower (only half live, but great stuff!)

Richard THompson - LOTS - but RT: The Life and Music of Richard Thompson is a great 5 disc collection

Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There? / The Wall Live Pink Floyd 1980-81 (a little dated, but this was BY FAR the best concert I have ever been to)

Peter Gabriel - Secret World Live

Pete Townshend - Psychoderelict Live (DVD)

Old and In the Way - That High Lonesome Sound

Neil Young - TIme Fades Away, Prairie Wind (DVD!!!!), Weld, Tonight's the Night

Lou Reed - Rock n Roll Animal

Kinks - To the Bone

Joni Mitchell - Miles of Isles, Shadows and Light

Jerry Garcia Band: Live at Shoreline

Janis Joplin - Janis (Box set - mostly live)

Hot Tuna - Hot Tuna (still awesome after all these years)

Genesis - Genesis Live (2009 remaster - 10 tracks)

Fairport Convention - House Full

Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson and Ricky Skaggs - The Three Pickers

Dixie Dregs - Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1978 (DVD)

Derek And The Dominos - Filmore Double Night

Grisman, Garcia (Plus Tony Rice) - the Pizza Tapes

Cat Stevens - Majikat (DVD)

The Band - Rock of Ages

Allman Brothers - Live at Ludlows garage (and of course Filmore east + bonus releases)

Never was a fan of live albums. Somehow they never seem to capture the energy of the show but this is one I always enjoy:

Not sure if these two were live albums or just concert videos, but I love them both:

U2 - Live at Red Rocks

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same

and I also love:

Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan

Some more:

Surprised nobody has mentioned B.B. King's "Live At The Regal" yet.

More recently, David Gilmour's "Live In Gdansk" is outstanding.

More obscurely, Dash Rip Rock's "Boiled Alive" still rawks.

The Zeppelin live collection ("How The West Was Won" ) from four or five years ago just slaughters "Song Remains The Same."

Sting is an unbearably pretentious git, but what the hell, "Bring On The Night" is still incredible.
