a tummy full of cold cereal puts me right to bed?
That's pandering? To what demographic, 6 year-olds?

I have a friend who swears eating sourdough pretzels helps him sleep. To each his own.

I really can't get on board with calling the Romney quotes "crazy". I don't even think they were "pandering". I think he is just not real great at small talk or off-the-cuff comments, that's all.

That's it, pretty much. Crazy is too strong, "unexpected" or "awkward" are the better terms. I'm sure he does love cereal before bed, and chocolate milk too. I believe it completely. Every time he tries to relate to ordinary people it comes out like this.

There was a story last summer about Romney being in coach on a flight to Boston and the people in his aisle tried to strike up conversation. On guy asked if he could recommend any restaurants and he said no, you'll have to ask someone else. A woman tried to make small talk and he said sorry I'm busy and didn't take his eyes off his phone or keyboard or papers. She found it so unexpected from a guy running for President that she wrote to a paper about it and it got published.
Now his campaign tries to keep him away from the press as much as possible, not unlike what happened with Sarah Palin after the Couric interview.
I still think he doesn't care if people like him or not, he's convinced he can win and be a good President and that's all that matters.
