Don’t believe in the media narrative – then why are you being shown this instead of this – Trayvon Martin – George Zimmerman

we're being manipulated.

I'm not.

Anyone who's followed this story knows the images being used most frequently are old.

But-- take the more recent photos-- there's a tacet assumption here that a guy who shaves and puts on a tie is justified in shooting someone with their boxers showing?

Yes, I know, thank you.
The rest seem to be inconsequential anyways, since it seems nothing beneficial is ultimately going to come of the media attention.

The outlets get their ad revenue. That's certainly beneficial for them.

Edit: and the precious ratings

billb.... ratings = ad revenues. They are tired directly into how much a media outlet can charge for their advertising. Hence their all-encompassing importance.

PIctures lent nothing to the story as far as I'm concerned. The fact that Zimmerman went after someone walking down the street, but had witnessed nothing more, was told by the 911 operator to not follow, then ended up shooting an unarmed teen got me wanting an arrest. Even if Martin reacted to someone stalking him, which Zimmerman was, it was a setup from the get go. To allow this to be ok means, in Fla at least, that you can legally kill whomever you want by first stalking them and retaliating with deadly force when they react.

That's not Trayvon Martin. That photo was debunked at least a week ago if not more. I believe that there are photos of Trayvon flipping the bird out there, but that ain't one of them.

I've avoided commenting on this story, it seems there are too many folks devoted to "hang 'em high" (before a trial or at least an arrest) and "self defense" types who claim innocence. I think the truth is somewhere in-between (the "grey" area) and without having any eyewitness accounts we may never know what really happened. What bothers me is people jumping on the "hang 'em high" bandwagon for political and their own self-serving gain. It will be interesting if there are no charges filed, might get real dicey...

Just my 2 cents,

I agree, but in this case the local police doing their best to avoid getting involved. It should have been treated as a murder scene.

Police are essentially the first line of justice and when they decide not to do their job they potentially prevent justice from occurring.

mattkime,

From what I have read and heard (albeit somewhat limited) the police originally wanted to file charges:

I recall watching on the evening news (either CBS or NBC) a neighbor mentioning the same police findings. I'm not a seasoned pro on this story (nor a detective) so any further comment would not be sound. I don't know the whole story and I doubt most people do, but I do know (or at least feel) that individuals are taking advantage of this tragedy for their own political gain.

while we'd like tho think these things are a simple matter of justice there is always a political side to things.

We are not yelling "Hang 'em high." We are yelling "Arrest him!"

The main reason that the pics of a 10 and 12 year old Martin are circulating in the media instead of the current pics showing his aggressive posture and tattoos is that major news outlets got permission from the family to use the first group of pics.

Are there even pictures of Martin "showing his aggressive posture and tattoos" given that the one in the OP has been shown by Snopes to be someone else?

Oops. I guess the Secret Service would have to release any assassins! I hope there aren't any pics of him in a hoodie!
