Zimmerman?


His attorneys don't seem to know and have withdrawn from the case. They mentioned on their way out the door that they have no control of donated defense funds, daddy does.

No doubt, those guys are in it for the money and since Zimm set up his own plea for $ webpage (lawyers were planning on doing it for him) they don't see any advantage in hanging around...

Withdrawn from what case? There's a case? You can't withdraw from a case without the judge's okay.

If you mean they quit, then they quit. It seems like they quit.

Withdraw or quit are the same lexicon. Once a case has been submitted to juridiction of a court it would require judicial acquiescence for an attorney of record to withdraw or quit.

A case is no less a case when being investigated, processed or merely looked at with an eye toward prosecution. Excluding the target subject, any party - unless contractually bound - may withdraw from participation in the case at any point.

Any other hairs you'd care to split?

Today's whole circus says more about 'ambulance chasing' attorneys than either party to the act. Spending the better part of a week defending someone you never met and someone who never signed a retainer agreement ought to be a subject looked into by either the Bar Association or Florida Supreme Court but that's another story. (Responsibilities vary from state to state and I've no inclination to become familiar with Florida statutes)

they were in pro bono and do you have to put a negative spine on everything? They can't keep a client that doesn't follow their instructions or they can't find. Just that simple. Money had nothing to do with it.

Right.... that's why they wanted to set up a website to collect money for their client... sure... that's it...

Sure, i'll split one more. The 'case' at present (as much as there is one) belongs exclusively to the police and the state's attorney; in addition, it's not a case against Zimmerman, it's an investigatory case into Martin's killing. Because there is no indictment and no legal action has been taken against Zimmerman, his lawyers weren't working on 'his case.' They were advisors, that's all. I suppose that it would be technically possible to walk into your boss's office and announce, "I am withdrawing from this case," but that would be awkward and confusing.
