Ah, May Day. Flowers, sunshine, gentle breezes, smashed windows, pepper spray

Anarachists are at it again in downtown Seattle.

Several peaceful marches and protests were planned, but the knuckleheads showed up too.

Rush hour will be a blast this afternoon.

Cleveland. Yeah, just high spirits....

Occupy is gearing up for a summer at the McKeldin Fountain here in Baltimore. It's their right, I suppose, but last year the odor from their encampment was just awful. I don't know how anyone actually lived there.

No idea if OWS if coming back to Seattle this spring. They were camped out for a while in a city park and it was mostly uneventful. OWS was peaceful here.
The people from yesterday aren't the same crowd. The anarchists are opportunistic vandals and potentially violent criminals who show up when other groups have organized civil marches and protests. They cause mayhem then blend back into the crowd. A reporter who saw a number of them take off the black hoods said they were "white, suburban-looking college age kids."
They're not going to do the hard time camping downtown in the rain, they're here for the party, then they go home.

Well after the Bomb Plot, Occupy in Cleveland won't be getting a camping permit anytime soon (it was denied). They can assemble and then split. And you can bet the cops are watching them like hawks watching particularly annoying and tasty mice.

Is there perhaps a better label for them than "Anarchists?"
Anarchy is the absence of heirarchy, no more, no less. It's not inherent in believing that people can organize non-heirarchically that one have a desire to frack chit up.

That's what they call themselves. I suppose you could call them anything you want.

How did we get from random vandals and criminals abusing the cover of a crowd to a "they?"

I sure sounds from your description like the individuals in question intend primarily to make things harder for the protestors, no?

You can read more about our friendly northwest anarchists here.

Marches and protests organized by others are just opportunities for them, not necessarily anything they want to support or not support.

I think the people who do this are just destructive, attention seeking idiots who get a thrill from creating chaos and danger for others. The
victims are sometimes targeted but often are just random, as was the case downtown this week.
They aren't all that active around Seattle but down in Eugene they are a pain in the butt.

Absolutely there is no reason for the 99% to have any legitimate reasons to protest.
I can see all those flakes and fakes right here from my computer also. Funny how that works out *(:>*
