Fox News: Fair and bal.....uh, just kidding.

So this piece was produced by Fox News. Not produced by some independent producer and SHOWN on Fox, but created by Fox,

[youtu.be]

Even the conservative web site Hot Air is calling them out on it.

"If anyone wanted to look for evidence that the overall Fox News organization intends to campaign against Obama rather than cover the campaign, this video would be difficult to refute as evidence for that claim."

The Vice President at Fox, of course blames an underling.

“The package that aired on FOX & Friends was created by an associate producer and was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network. This has been addressed with the show’s producers.”

Really? That four minute piece with all the research, slick graphics and intro from the Fox and Friends hosts was just cobbled together by some "associate producer" under the radar ?

Isn't it cute when they lie?

I think the gratuitous use of Nancy Pelosi shows the intention of the video. She's obviously stuck in there to make the FOX viewers freak, as they always do when her image/name comes up.

No excuse. If the senior executives are giving associate producers authority to prepare pieces for broadcast—and every broadcast network that I can think of does that—then they, the senior executives, are responsible for what those associate producers produce.

The Fox News byline should be changed from "Fair and Balanced" to "The Republican Party Media Outlet". No other changes are needed.

I rather enjoyed it. Thanks food the link. An excellent reminder of Obama's promises made and then broken. Yep, going to pay off the debt. Going to create jobs.

Fox News is doing what the communists couldn't do - take down America. And while the commies went broke trying, Fox is making a profit.

Uhm.. the program is COMMENTARY.

And every hit piece on Mitt done by the media should also be classed as "working for the Obama campaign". Right ?

So by your collective theory everyone that doesn't agree with Obama is unfairly part of his opponent's campaign. Probably needs to be put in Gitmo and waterboarded too, right ?

Jeez. Be open to other opinions. It's a free country, feel free to laugh at them as well.

You don't seem to have a clue as to what the issue is cbelt3. Fox News represents themselves as a "fair and balanced" news agency. That claim is incompatible with producing and airing political attack ads. If they just came clean and admitted that they were a political organization rather than a news agency then there wouldn't be any problem.

If it's so innocent and normal, cbelt, then why is FOX saying it was the work of an associate producer, and “was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network” and that the incident “has been addressed with the show’s producers.” [www.mediabistro.com] Seems to me they would have just retorted that it was Commentary had they felt that was truly the case.

News is Not Commentary. Commentary is Not News. Simple logic.

$tevie,
I expect Fox got hammered by the liberal media (thus proving that thesis), and backpedaled to avoid losing advertisers. It's right up there in the Media Executive Handbook under "Troubleshooting". There's a whole chapter on "How to throw associate producers under the Bus".

FWIW I don't watch Fox or any TV News shows. I'd rather get my news without having to sit through 50% advertising and 30% other crap for 20% value). I'm just tired of the 'Fox is Bad' meme, and the repeated erroneous theory by liberals that commentary equals news reportage. At least for Fox.

"We decided to take a look back at President Obama's first term to see if it lived up to Hope and Change". Where's the advisory that it's an opinion piece? Nowhere, that's where.

If your point is that FOX is all about commentary and not news, then you are agreeing with the rest of us.

If you REALLY can't tell the difference between political commentary (that wasn't even introduced as commentary by the "hosts"winking smiley and a flat out political attack ad, let me help you out.

And by the way, if this was innocuous commentary, why did Fox pull it?

[mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com]

Versions of the video were taken off of the network’s Web sites Wednesday afternoon. Earlier in the day, The Fox Nation, a conservative arm of FoxNews.com, promoted it as a “must-see Fox video,” though now that URL leads to a dead link. Though Fox pulled the video, copies remained on YouTube and other sites.

According to cbelt, they pulled it because the meanie left attacked them and they lack the courage of their convictions so they surrendered without a whimper.

FWIW I don't watch Fox or any TV News shows.

That goes a long way, although not all the way, towards explaining how you can be so completely off on this one.
