Here's a list of some of Romney's lies:
I hear clips of him on the radio just slinging total BS out there like it was nothing. I never hear of him correcting or apologizing for his lies.

this thread seems to have nothing to do with the article in the OP
Yes, republicans lie - not like we haven't talked about that before...
But with regard to the article posted... Frankly, this makes Obama look rather Romneyesque to me.... Saying that the private sector is fine (when it isn't) isn't a statement that anyone should vigorously defend.
The Private Sector is simply the area of the economy not controlled by the government and it ain't fine. Sure, things are improving, but that is not the same as fine. That's a long, long way from fine.
In a few years, we'll have a 'who said what' list of stupid gaffs and I bet most would attribute this loser to Romney - because it was a stupid thing to say. It's right up there with "I'm not concerned about the very poor".

I don't know what the controversy is. He has already retracted what he said(or did he?). Do you have an issue with him now?

OK, so have we not seen "good momentum" in the private sector, or are we back to square one on this one?.

I have stated before and I'll state again that it was not fair to take "I'm not concerned about the very poor" as a stand-alone statement . . . would prefer to see neither side sink that low.

IMO, neither. I'd say that we've moved off the bottom and are going in the right direction, but we are not out of the woods yet. A continued upward path is not assured. Things are not fine - yet. They might be if things continue to go well. It's too early to claim victory. It's too early for 'fine'.
And that's coming from me - I'm not one of the people he's trying to win over. The whole point of the press conference was to show that he's working the problem - he's on the job. But all that most have seen is him with a big 'Mission Accomplished' banner behind him. What a disaster...Quote

But you WILL admit that it was an incredibly stupid thing to say - right? There were a million ways to make the point he was trying to make without, "I'm not concerned about the very poor" being a part of it.

So, are you grouping Obama's 'fine' in that category of things said as a result of sleepiness? or is he simply right iyo?
I might go with the sleepiness thing, but I say that the statement is wrong with or without more context. And further... there were no lies to confront - they just came out and said, "Fine??!! Whattaya mean fine???
and I say that they were right...
He later rephrased the statement to, "...we've actually seen some good momentum in the private sector."
This is a completely different statement. THIS statement I have no problem with.

If taken in context I read it as meaning that the private sector is doing fine in terms of beginning to grow again, while the public sector is not doing fine because it is shrinking instead of beginning to grow. Out of context it sounds stupid.
I am glad we can talk about this instead of WHY the private sector gained jobs while the public sector lost them, because this is easy to discuss while the latter topic would be too hard and no fun at all.

personally I think Obama's responding and clarifying immediately, as evidenced here, is the right approach

I meant to answer this from the start but got distracted by the silly. I agree with you. One thing that has bugged me about Democrats is the way they think the smell will go away if you just ignore it...
