Yes. This is actually historical FACT. Mumbling by gun control advocates is technically "Holocaust Denial", which will get you jailed in many European nations.

actually gun control in Germany was enacted by the Weimar Republic. mostly to disarm and control private armies still amassed by extremists opposed to the democracy formed after WW 1
The "gun control laws" may have been expanded in 1936 or whenever but the Nazis had already attained power via popular vote . Not because any weak populace couldn't defend themselves.

August... explain please ? How is Mr. Harris' statement logical otherwise ? This is a logical discussion, I'm not trying to pander to the idiocracy that is the Republican Party, or encourage it. But I AM annoyed at two faced muttering by spokespeople like Harris who would bring up the Holocaust at the drop of a hat if it furthered their cause.

I jump to conclusions, although I try to recognize it I'm not always successful. At one time or another I'm sure we all have, some more than others. The underlying elements of why people have preconceived notions about someone because of ethnicity, position held or structure worked in is a field worthy of study.

Wait you say it's been studied to death?

In this instance a mere focus on reading comprehension might have avoided an embarrassment.

Next time I misread or misunderstand something I'm sure one of my close friends here will have a link back to the above sentence.

There are at least three generations who have no idea that others were targeted by Nazis or that some sixty (60) million Russians died as a result of that particular democratic election in Germany. The US suffered about 400,000 combat and noncombat deaths.

The proportions are staggering.

The turnabout is amazing. The Republican Party has become home to the middle and lower middle class. You look at any beat up pick up truck and you immediately think of the driver, preferably with missing teeth, as a Republican. Then you drive by a fancy coffee shop and the latte drinkers are probably liberal Democrats. So I am not surprised that a plumber is carrying the mantle of the Republican Party in a fight against an undoubtedly rich upper crust Democrat. All the while Dems are the party of the "people" and Republicans are the party of the rich.

What complete and utter BS. Yes, there may be some extremist gun control advocates pushing for complete abolition, but they are a very small minority of those pushing for gun controls. They have little, if any, say in the process overall.

The NRA has a far reach when it can extend it's distortions to this forum.
