Dow gains 4%, Dems raise record cash, gas prices plummet

Other than the terrible mid-Atlantic storms and resulting power outages, a pretty good week.

Average gallon of gas cost 22 percent more on Pres. Bush's last 4th of July in office than it does today.
($4.12 then, $3.37 today)

I'm always a little wary of using gas prices, up or down, as an indicator of domestic success or failure. Too many external factors beyond our control have a major influence on it.

Your optimism is refreshing.

As soon as they go up again, it will be because Obama spent 250 million dollars a day for his 4th of July campaign trip to Paris with a suitcase full of aborted fetuses that he denied medical care to.

Thanks, but it's not random optimism. Look at this chart of gas price history and you'll see that @#$%& come in the spring, lows in the fall. Barring another Katrina-type disaster, it's likely only downward for gas prices between now and the election.
