This side needs a topic about the Colorado shootings and all the silly conspiracy theories that come along with that.

Go for it.

OK, all those people with agendas bottled up for years can now unleash. Here is a list you can pick from,

- large magazines ban
- one gun a month
- gun show loophole
- large caliber ban
- "automatic" weapon ban
- check his AM radio presets
- tea party membership

A crazed gunman enters a darkened theatre and opens fire. Even if a "citizen" in the theater were packing, how many people would have died before said citizen could identify and disable the gunman amid that chaos?

No, because said citizen would most likely shoot innocent people in the chaos rather than hit the gun nut using his weapons as designed by the manufacturer.

Seriously Dakota.

mick e made a ridiculous statement as it pertained to the sadistic gunman - YOU made sick and morbid statements addressed to the victims of this hideous massacre.

It is beyond the pale, and you should issue an apology for forum trolling on the backs of the dead and wounded.

Then there might be a shooting because:
- someone's cell goes off.
- someone's whisper was audible.
- someone drooled at someone else's girlfriend.
- someone did not like someone else's politics.
- someone passed gas loudly.
and the list goes on.

One of my thoughts when reading about this is that it's =really= unlikely that no-one else would have been packing in a basically full movie theater showing a film of interest to a younger adult crowd (i.e. not a Woody Allen film or animation.)

Pentagon saying that among the casualties are members of the military (not sure if dead or injured or both.)

And the shooter had more violent plans beyond the theater. His apartment building was wired with sophisticated explosive devices.

In any event, another messed up coward with fire power takes away innocent lives.

About how he got in - one witness says they saw a guy in the front row take a cell call and go to the emergency door and prop it open. Could have been the shooter, or an accomplice.

Why? Why does this keep happening?

Mental illness and social maladjustment will always be with us. So will violence. But what "crazy" is able to accomplish seems to vary widely depending on where you live.

ABC news has already tried to blame this on the Tea Party saying James Holmes(sp) was a member. They are already having to walk that back, bit not before they aired their "find" nationally. ABC looked at the Tea Party membership list In the Aurora area and found a man with the same name as the shooter and drew the wrong conclusion.. ABCs guy was in his 50s.

If you don't stand for something, you'll probably fall for anything.

I don't see an unsecured emergency door as evidence of conspiracy. It's just a movie theatre, where the emergency doors are locked to keep out teenagers with no tickets. It's not Heathrow.

I'm ignoring who you quoted, but please remember (and everyone else) that in the early stages of a crisis information can often be wrong or misleading. All news outlets are dropping whatever bits and pieces they find whether they are relevant or not.

People in our buildings will prop open emergency doors when they go out to smoke. If the door isn't equipped with an alarm nobody is the wiser.

There's no excuse for what ABC did. It's not that they got wrong information from a normally reliable source, like the police, they went looking for people online and just put people out there, with absolutely no vetting. This is not a "fog of war" mistake. It's highly unprofessional, outrageous and inexcusable.

You can't invoke the First Amendment here, Speedy, because we are standing on private property. The owner of that property can abridge free speech all he wants.

I'm not crazy about the idea of re-banning him because he hasn't attacked anyone, but I wish people would stop responding to his idiotic statements. There's no sense in encouraging him.

If he has a history of partisanship or tea party hatred I would agree. Otherwise it's nothing more than what I've seen happen before. Reporters try to dig up any info about someone and put it out there before getting confirmation.
