And wehre does Romney come in a story about an "Auschwitz-like" hospital run by, who else, US military? Liberals favorite institution.

This trash post takes the cake for the most misleading title.

GOP House is going after corrupt leaders in our own military? There must be a Democrat in the White House.
Meanwhile, this story is beyond horrible. But if anyone is surprised about corruption in Afghanistan, including what's been done with the hundreds of billions we've "invested" there, you haven't been paying even a bit of attention for the past 11 years. The news stories on this are pretty short on details - was this widespread? Were any of the staffers or patients Americans? It says "US funded military hospital" but what role does the US have in oversight of Afghan-run hospitals?

None of those questions matter. If you can besmirch the military, do it. There are people who are more than happy to spread it around the internet and forums.

Afghan facility, funding by the US, but locally run. conditions are, alas, typical for the locale. It is, after all, the third world. I wonder if our only options were to stop funding it?

look at any third world medical facility and you may see the same thing.

No complaints from the righties here when Walter reed went sliding downhill. Bush & co. had the unmitigated gall to blame this on ANYONE but themselves. Absolute incompetence.

It's curious that so much of this thread is dedicated to the identification and motives of those who are investigating rather than the truth or falsity of the allegations. The resident troll wants to distract the commenters by claiming that the truth is some kind of liberal plot. That's pretty pathetic.

Walter Reed? Sliding downhill??

You're really going to compare Walter Reed Army Medical Center to a hospital in not just a third world country, but a third world country constantly ravaged by war?

That's the most arrogant and disgusting partisanship I've seen here.

I've worked several medical missions and been to some flung parts of the world and seen hospitals and medical centers work with some of the most crude and rudimentary resources - with nearly no supplies and what we would consider completely unsanitary conditions. There is no comparison of Walter Reed (no matter how bad it got) to a third world hospital.

I've seen an American anesthesiologist, a recognized specialist in his field, downright scared and terrified to administer anesthesia because he was afraid that he might kill the patient as the equipment was so worn and antiquated.

Save your political pushing agenda for other First World themes.

It is all partisan and disgusting when your side looks bad. Yes, slid downhill under the Bush administration. No one is comparing Walter Reed to some 3rd world mobile hospital, yet that is what happened, like it or not, it took place under Bush's watch (not that he had anything to do with why it happened, yet WHEN it happened, he shifted the blame to anyone but who was responsible).

If this is too partisan for you, look around at all of the trolling from the right and report back to us.
