Lacks empathy and he's too lazy to read his morning brief.

it did make me think that it would spur a large segment of the population to get out and vote FOR Romney. I can only hope those folks would never visit moveon.org.

agree smiley

I was thinking a lack of humanity, decency or honesty, but empathy works too.

I would like to amend that many of the religious right do lots of good works with poor, etc. However, in my observations, they do it because it gives them status within their religious circle. The ones I have met aren't conscious of this, but it has been so obvious.

One of the reasons people at a spiritual development stage such as Stage III are actually more 'moral' than those church-going folks of stage II link

I haven't read Peck for ages. He has an interesting take.
A bit rigid where it might better be fluid and a bit prescriptive where a pragmatic approach might be better suited, but interesting.

I tend not to like systems that aim to categorize, even though personally I am prone to generalisations, as many here have noticed!

I personally, whilst not being Jewish subscribe to the notion of mitzvah. That you should do good for other people not for your own ends ie for societal back-slapping, but for completely altruistic ones. The highest form of Mitzvah is one where the recipient doesn't know that you were involved. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
The thread a few days ago about the possibility of acting altruistically in a modern society was promising but never got off the ground.
It's a difficult subject but whilst the ground covered is moral and ethical it still pertains to the political sphere, which is what much of this forum covers (when we are not talking solely about guns!).

"In order to successfully fulfill a Mitzvah you have to perform an act of kindness that is above and beyond the normal act of kindness. It is performing an act that is completely selfless. One such act of kindness that is often referenced when referring to a Mitzvah is burying someone unknown. This is completely selfless and considered to be a Mitzvah. While other acts can also be a Mitzvah, they need to follow the same lines. They need to be acts that help someone else, but do not actually help the person who performed them."

The 600 series Romneytron had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot. I had to wait till he moved on the presidency before I could zero him.

I have to say I do like this subject line quite a lot. It reminds me of a comedy movie series title, like Medea goes to Jail . . . let's keep it going :-)
