Clinton was saved by the Republican congress. Dick Morris walked up to him and said you sign this welfare reform legislation or it is lights out for you. He singed it.

WIll he stay on script ? He's had a few interesting things to say lately.

It's been kind of fun. Usually ex presidents stay in the background and don't get their noses in, unless they are asked to take on a diplomatic role. I think Jimmy Carter is the one ex president who has been most publically vocal, but he's limited himself to things outside of the US, which has been quiet comfortable for the following administrations.

Bill Clinton never shut up for all the 8 years that Bush was in office.

Jimmy's efforts abroad have have gotten some Presidential noses out of joint from time to time, but he's got a great elder statesman vibe.
Clinton seems to be kinda lost, like a guy who took early retirement but has no hobbies.

At least none that wouldn't get him impeached.

Clinton is keeping quite active. Just because he's not on TV doesn't mean he isn't busy.

The only way the Republicans saved President Clinton was by impeaching him. Otherwise they used the same strategy they are using on President Obama: be against everything the president wants.

It's very simple. Troll posts are only aimed to needle you into making a response. Trolls are not interested in debating any points. They construct their posts solely to irritate forum members and to disrupt discussion. If you respond to a troll in any way (especially if you appear to be irritated) then you have made him happy and you have encouraged him to continue to disrupt the forum. He wins, we all lose.

The difference between Clinton and Obama is that Obama is just not very smart. Clinton when cornered threw welfare under the bus and declared the era of big government is over. Obama says you didn't build that. He has not walked back from his big government plans one inch, which you should like.

Yes, I like it. The more the government taxes, borrows and spends, the better the economy will do.

Given that Clinton already endorsed Romney's sterling business career someone has to reign in all those fed up Democrats that might otherwise not bother to vote this time around.

It has only partially worked because President Obama hasn't put in place the tax part. I am referring to high tax rates on those who have high incomes.

If you could guarantee what they would do with the money I might be persuaded but you and I know that the they collect them and you will never know what they did with them. Next year? Same story. No money for teachers and police, no money for aid to the poor, no money for daycare no money, no money.

Apparently, Obama personally asked him to rally the troops. Not a strong way to start the campaign.

How can you people disparage Bill Clinton, one of the greatest modern presidents, when the Republican convention almost certainly asked G W Bush to make himself scarce?

The greatest modern president accomplishments are all in the vein of Republican politics. What social "safety net" did he grow? He cut everything in sight. You re simultaneously proud of him and Obama, the greatest expander of welfare state. Can you spell h-a-c-k?

because it only takes two seconds to find out he declined the invitation ?
specious speculation is more fun though, eh ?

I can just picture the phone call invitation from the RNC. It probably went something like this:

Ring Ring...Uh, Mr. President? Mr. Bush? Uh, this is Tom Perkins with the RNC....Hello to you too. Uh, Mr. President, on behalf of the RNC, I would like to personally invite you and Mrs. Bush to...uh, Laura. Yes, Laura. I would like to... sometime in August...yes. I don't have the exact date right at the moment...I can have someone get back to you on...yes, I know it'll be hotter than hell in Texas. Anyway, on behalf of the...yes. I think Bill Clinton will speak at the Democrat Convention... Yes. A BJ...I know......anyhoo, we would like for you and Laura to attend, that is if you really want to. It's not required... That's totally up to you...If you don't want to you don't have to. Everyone will understand. I'm sure you're a busy busy man now... Uh huh. Uh huh...Well, let me put it like this - no one's pulling your arm. Uh huh. You know I can understand if you've made other plans. August is a busy month. Uh huh. There's no dress code...Something comfortable. Maybe a couple notches above what you wear on the ranch...I see...You sold the ranch...............................

You'd think that a sweaty, stinky, mud-covered, old footballer with bad knees would be happy with old cars, houses, bikes, and bezerkeley, let alone being sandwiched between Pam and rgG in a classic quote, but, since you insist, it must be recognized that the opposition withers when confronted by the overwhelming logic, knowledge, and very nature of a davester chart.
