Perhaps crazy, but deliberately homeless. He has a restraining order on him, and he's not allowed to go near his girlfriend's apartment, let alone sleep there because of his unfortunate habit of beating the hell out of her. He could be armed to the teeth for all we know. I'm betting there are other copycats.

He probably has imaginary rocket launches too.
