For some reason, I guess because these days nobody knows when anything happened, they rounded everything up to the beginning of the next decade, so if this theory is true we really only have like two years. That's not even enough time for Pantone to select the color palette, let alone for the GAP to design and manufacture anything. Seems like the past "upheavals" mostly came on the heels of periods of peak prosperity, which maybe or maybe not have run 50-ish year cycles.
Agree that there's some magical thinking about the roundness of their numbers.
